Energy and Carbon – Leisure Services Provider

After staff costs, utilities are the largest expense for a leisure services operator. North Country Leisure, (now part of Greenwich Leisure – GLL), appointed Redding Associates to help reduce their energy costs across a growing portfolio of leisure centres in the North of England. We undertook opportunity assessments at main leisure centres and set up energy monitoring across the organisation. Until it’s purchase by GLL, we delivered training and awareness, advised on the opportunities for new acquisitions and undertook detailed technical reviews on a range of opportunities, from BMS optimisation through to renewable energy implementation. Average carbon reduction was 16% with some sites seeing over 30% reductions. We have continued to provide energy services to the new owner GLL.

Metering and Monitoring – Care Home Providerr

BUPA Care Homes, one of the largest providers of care homes in the UK, asked for assistance in developing the business case and procurement route for automatic monitoring and targeting for their sites. Redding Associates reviewed current information systems and identified the most appropriate and practical hardware and software options for automatic metering, monitoring, targeting and reporting. A performance specification was then developed to obtain quotations for the work followed by assistance with contractor selection.

Training and Awareness – Law Firm

Redding Associates were appointed by one of the largest law firms in the UK, DLA Piper, to develop training and awareness programs for facilities staff. The firm had over 3500 lawyers across 69 countries and wanted to develop a UK program that could eventually be used across all sites. We trained staff from across the 12 UK sites as well as providing technical assistance with BMS and Metering systems. The training was designed for staff to develop their own office awareness programs.

Controls and BMS – Restaurant Group

The Restaurant Group Plc (TRG) is a significant player in the UK casual dining market, operating over 500 restaurants and pubs which include Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquito, Coast to Coast, Garfunkel’s, Firejacks, Brunning & Price and Joe’s Kitchen. They asked Redding Associates to develop a performance specification for implementing automatic controls and metering systems at 5 pilot sites. We then monitored the energy use at the pilot sites before and after implementation to enable TRG to choose a system and contractor for a full scale roll out.

Low Carbon and Renewables – Community Football Club

Redding Associates has been involved in low carbon projects ranging from a few kW up to 50MW. These have included wind, solar, biomass and hydro as well as combined heat and power projects. We are most proud of community projects that we have helped nurture and implement. Poppleton Juniors is a community football club near York and they wanted their new clubhouse/community centre to be as green as possible. Redding Associates advised on low energy design and the potential for renewable energy. We then assisted with the specification, procurement, grant application and planning requirements for a 11kW wind turbine.

Compliance Service – Whisky Distillery

Redding Associates provided ESOS Lead Assessor and Audit services to over 20 large organisations during Phase 1, many within limited timescales owing to submission deadlines. The Highland Park and Macallan distilleries in Scotland were audited as part of the Erdington Group ESOS accreditation. Detailed surveys provide ESOS compliant information and found over £300k of savings.
